Types of Meditation.

Question:

Years ago, I took a course in what I thought was meditation. They talked about going down to your Alpha level which I did quite successfully. We had to create a room and bring in our spiritual guides and we could see remotely, people we knew and if they had any illnesses and possibly heal them. Your meditation seems to let your mind wander with nothing to “focus” on and I am finding it very difficult to be in the “gap”. Is your way true meditation or is it alright to see images, etc.?

There are many, many types of meditation, including the brainwave-inducing kinds you mentioned, that use visualization of rooms and guides. The Primordial Sound Meditation that I teach is based on the ancient knowledge of enlightened rishis who cognized the fundamental sounds or mantras that help the human awareness go beyond its conditioned thought process to the source of consciousness. Of the various types of meditation, the oldest and most traditional are these kinds of practices that give one direct experience of the higher self and lead to self-realization or enlightenment.
