Emotional Unavailability.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

Recently I have realized I am emotionally unavailable. If you don’t know anything about this, you can google it – there are very specific behaviors and feelings associated with this phenomenon. I realized it after trying to search out why I kept falling for emotionally unavailable people. I just don’t know how to “cure” myself of it myself. I understand how to stop the compulsive thinking in myself and stop being so reactive and to find peace, acceptance, and enjoyment in the present moment now that I understand about consciousness, etc., but I just can’t figure out how to apply my new spiritual understanding to not fear intimacy, which I suppose is the root of the EU’s problem. More specifically, I guess I don’t pursue or follow through with relationships because I am too possessive or rigid about my time and so get stressed out if plans are made, and I also find myself not enjoying being around others fully for too long a period of time. I want to be in a relationship though; I just can’t figure out how to do that. I think a lot of people are emotionally unavailable. So your answer could potentially help a lot of people. Thank you so much. 🙂

Response:

If the basis of your emotional unavailability is fearing intimacy, then you will need to do some healing practices and perhaps get counseling to get past those fears. Concurrently you need to develop a core emotional security and strength within you so that you are not so reactive and compulsive. A meditation program that activates your base energy center, or muladhara chakra will help give you a feeling of safety, security, rootedness and deep ease within yourself. That stable center will be the foundation upon which you eventually will be able to become involved in relationships, where you won’t feel threatened or afraid and you will also have something of yourself.

Deepak
