Does being successful cancel out Aparigraha?.
When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.
Question:
“I am from Bangalore, and I have read all your books. In fact, I introduced your books to my friend circle long back.
These days I am reading Patanjali Yoga sutra.
How to follow the path of Aparigraha? Born in a middle-class family, now I have acquired little wealth, I am not lavish in tastes, and I know that I will not need all the money, but I cannot think of not providing for tomorrow and just think of today–that is Aparigraha, isn’t it?”
Response:
Aparigraha is one of the principle tenets outlined in Yoga philosophy.
It is generally taken to mean non-possessiveness, non-hoarding, or non-greediness.
But real Aparigraha is not just about releasing our grasp of material goods, it is more fundamentally about consciousness releasing its grasp of false beliefs and images with which we have become identified with, and which we cling to gain a false sense of security.
This mental tendency is a reflection of how our consciousness relates to itself, not our behavior with money and possessions.
Possessiveness about things, our time, respect, relationship roles, and attitudes are what really underlies greedy behavior.
When our awareness has become awake to itself, it naturally feels safe, self-sufficient, and content.
It no longer looks for anything outside itself to provide those feelings of security or power.
That inner fullness of consciousness is the true sense of Aparigraha, where one automatically does not take what is not really yours.
