Buddha and Desire.

Question:
My wife and I just finished reading your book: “Buddha: A story of Enlightenment”. This was our first reading into the life of Buddha and his teachings and we both enjoyed it very much. However, a question keeps ringing in our minds; why did Buddha decide to stay and teach people after he reached enlightenment? Not that there is anything wrong with helping people to reach enlightenment, but if Buddha was completely fulfilled, why did he “want to free people from all opposites”?
Response:
Buddha didn’t want to teach people as a desire that he felt compelled to act on. He didn’t teach because felt incomplete or unfulfilled. He taught because that was his nature. That was his dharma or purpose, so the impulse to teach was intrinsic to his very being, not something he did to satisfy an ego need.
