Question:
I am a long time meditator. In the last few years I began to hear a straight line hum of a high frequency. My hearing is 100% perfect, I only hear the sound while meditating & it hum sounds the same regardless of where I am located on earth. What is going on?
Answer:
From what you have described, it seems to me that you are tuning into the background hum of creation itself. This indicates a refinement of awareness and is a very good sign. there is nothing more you need to do or even necessarily learn from this experience. It is enough to have it and let it be assimilated into consciousness. It may even leave your conscious attention after some time, but don’t worry, because that does not mean you have lost what that access has brought to your consciousness, it only means it no longer needs to remain in the forefront of your mind, and you are ready to move on to another stage of growth.

9Question:
I’ve been studying for years much of your books and videos, as well as other spiritual teachers or guides. I’ve made Reiki and I also meditate. The thing is that despite that amount of work I’ve done inside…I don’t get to maintain a peaceful state for long periods.Sometimes I feel full of peace, free of fear and grateful for all I have and I live…but without knowing why, I start to fall again in the old patterns, old fears and then the rest of my egoic attitudes come back. The thing is that when I’m “down” I hardly find the energy to apply the techniques and tools I’ve learned…as if a part of me wouldn’t want to be ok. I find a strong resistance inside when negativity arises and then I start to blame on external reasons.
I try to stay present, meditate, breath, but It seems to me that I don’t get to control my overall state. Like if when I’m down it happened as an accident, and when I feel good, as well.
Sometimes I feel my mind catches everything I learn to feel good and converts it into a mental object, and then it loses its power to me.
Any ideas or external view of what happens to me would be very helpful!
Answer:
This back and forth experience between ego and spiritual peace is the standard oscillation the soul goes through as identity shifts from the false self to its true self. You are on the right path, so don’t worry that your progress is not happening fast enough or in the way that you think it should. That judgment about the pace of your evolution is itself coming from your ego mind. Your higher Self knows it is all going exactly as it needs to. That universal intelligence governs the larger picture of your evolution, beyond the details and dramas of your ups and downs, victories and relapses. Your pure essence is flawlessly orchestrating every little circumstance toward your full awakening, regardless of how dark or dismal it may feel emotionally at times. Your higher Self is outside the control of your ego, trust that it is guiding the whole process perfectly.
What you are doing now by meditating, breathing, and staying present are all exactly the right things to help you bring more conscious awareness into the conditioned areas of your life. All you need to do is continue this with more patience, love and joy for the whole journey.

Spiritual Solution #6: Are You Trapped by Beliefs and Advertising?
September 9th, 2010
9Question:
I have been reading your book on synchrodestiny, and I started to meditate using the so hum mantra. For my archetypes I picked my grandmother who was very close to me and brought me up until I was about nine, she passed away many years ago. For the first week and up to now I have fallen asleep after ten mins or so, but then last night something amazing happened to me. I have been overworking and so very tired and run down that I developed mouth ulcers which usually take one week to heal. I dreamt that I met my grandmother and she made some kind of herbal tea which she showed me but she told me that I could not know the ingredients, she told me to drink it and that when I woke up I would feel better. When I woke up I was healed and the mouth ulcers were gone. Can you tell me is this a direct result of my meditation efforts, or a visit from my grandma and do you have any literature on this.
Answer:
I have no literature to offer you on this at all. But it’s a beautiful experience that resulted in a healing. Whether it is from meditation or Grandma, or something else, it is hard to say. However, it is not necessary to pin down a causal mechanism. It is enough that you have put your intention of spiritual healing and growth out to the universe and the infinite intelligence of the cosmos then organizes the appropriate response at the right time.

7Question:
It is always a pleasure to hear you speak and I am especially happy to hear you speak on the ” I am ” meditation. I read a book that was on a suggested list at the end of one of your books. It was called ” I am ” and was written by a man who seemingly had an awareness beyond most. His teacher told him when he began to just meditate on ” I am ” . I am not sure how to spell his name , but here I will try..Sri Prammanasudh. I hope this rings a bell and jogs your memory. I believe it was an inspirational book for you as well and if memory serves me correctly you had the opportunity to meet this gentleman.
Anyways, to make my point I will cut to the chase. I am a member of the 12 step program for drug addiction and I am a survivor of sexual abuse. Within the Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous programs we refer to our selves as addicts and alcoholics. When we introduce ourselves we say ” I am an addict and my name is…” . I have had a thought since I adopted this meditation of ” I am ” when I introduce myself at meetings. I would like to just say ” I am” , but that does not fit within the program. I feel that by saying I am an addict, it will always be so. If I say ” I am ” I am not being entirely truthful at meetings. How can I get around feeling like I am making my own reality by saying it over and over? Within the Big Book of AA it does say that “we can recover”. Not that we are recovering for the rest of our lives. I feel my recovery is based upon my spiritual maintenance now and my higher power has removed my obsession to use. That is a gift I am most grateful for as I know that addiction leads to 3 places, death, jails and institutions. Having this death sentence removed is a miracle only God could give me. I guess my question is … ” How can I carry this philosophy of ” I am ” with me at all times, including 12 step meetings?” I trust the Big Book of Alcoholics completely as it has been proven to work millions of times over as long as you have a connection with a power greater than yourself. Higher power, God, God consciousness or even just Mother Nature. I have seen people keep their sobriety just believing in the group. Group of Drunks, or G.O.D. , for short. It is funny but it works for some. Am I hurting my quest to pure awareness and complete consciousness by stating ” an addict ” after ‘ I am “? Is it o.k. to just practice the feeling of ” I am ” in meditation only and the rest of reality doesn’t necessarily need that feeling. I am confused because Sri Prammanasudh was able to reach ‘enlightenment’ or a higher state of awareness than most by being ” I am “, always. Please let me know how you feel as I have always been helped by your awareness and I have read much of your books. You have been a guide , in the form of an author, for me for quite some time and I owe you a debt of gratitude for the information and paths you have shared with the world. I have been able to understand intellectually and I am learning to experience everyday. It is through experience that I learn the most. You don’t really know a lemon until you taste it, right?Answer:
You’re absolutely right about learning most effectively through experience. The “I am” experience applies here as this experience reminds us of our true nature as pure consciousness, non-localized potentiality.
When you introduce yourself at AA meetings by saying “I am an addict” you need to be clear that you are not defining your essence or truth in such a statement, but rather describing the conditioned behavior of your ego-personality. That limited part of you responsible for your addictive behavior is not to be ignored or underestimated, but neither should it be confused for your real self. As long as you use this AA statement as a way of taking responsibility and acknowledging the facts of addiction, but not of your higher Self, then it can be a helpful tool in recovery and your spiritual progress as well.
Practicing the I am meditation for some time during the day is sufficient to gain the spiritual benefits throughout the day. It is not necessary to try to mentally hold the idea “I am” in every mundane thought you have. That will only weaken your mind and make your social interactions unnatural. It’s more effective to meditate while you meditate and act while you act. The meditation will have its spiritual influence automatically as your experience of your Self deepens.

7Question:
I have been wanting to ask this for a long time but didn’t want to bother you until had exhausted other sources. Anyhow, for the past year and half have been experiencing something that I haven’t been able to find an explanation for. When sitting in meditation (i was doing healing bowls then, now chakra cleansing).I began experiencing a side-to-side swaying movement in my upper body–like a pendulum–which I couldn’t control without some effort..that lasted 6 months or so (I thought it was a spirit communicating with me

Also asked stu wilde about it (did a course with him) and he said side-to-side was a good movement because the body was trying to slip out or something ..which I didn’t understand.Since then it has been like a spinning + spiralling kind of movement. you know sometimes can feel something like a butter-churning stick in centre of me, which is spinning and around it a spiralling energy–sometimes the spiral stays with the lower 2-3 chakras, sometimes goes up and down. And my upper body moves with it.
and now it’s become so weird that I can feel this spiralling movement if I sit motionless for even a few seconds, like right now in front of laptop! or if standing and chatting at a party or something..what I mean is I think the movement is going on all the time but when I am motionless it becomes obvious..i think.
so what is going on and what am I supposed to do with it?
thanks for any helpAnswer:
This sounds like a simple matter of the body moving as a way of facilitating the release of some old blockage. It is a manifestation of Kundalini energy moving up the body as a result of your spiritual practices. It really is nothing worth bothering about. It will subside on its own as soon as the underlying issue is cleared. What you want to be careful about is not giving it your attention and interest. Because as we know, what you put your attention on will become stronger. That means that if we become overly fascinated in something like this, and determined to discover the deeper significance of it, then that attention in itself is likely to make it persist even beyond its natural course. A simpler and more effective approach is to take the position that the swaying motion is not absolutely necessary to the release process. And if, in spite of this attitude, the rocking continues, then you know it is serving a real purpose, so be neutral with it until it is done.

Muhammad: THE BALANCE BETWEEN FACT AND FICTION

7Question:
My question has to do with getting out of an emotional rut. I’ve made some big changes in my life in this past year: I got out of a 5 year relationship that wasn’t working, left a high-pressure job that was sucking all the energy out of me, let go of a wonderful, but very expensive (and hence high-stress) apartment and finally put all my things in storage in order to travel for about 2 months to clear my mind and spend time with my
