I am extremely grateful to all of you who have decided to be a part of Collective Creativity at LinkedIn, and for all your generous and valuable contributions so far.
There is a Cree proverb that says, “Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned, and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.” The toxic oil spewing into the Gulf is so heartbreaking and massive that the warning of this proverb as it relates to the spill cannot possibly be missed by any one of us. This catastrophe is bringing each of us to our own personal crossroads about environmental stewardship.
Let’s all heed the foretelling of the Cree and become part of the solution. Show that we are aware that organisms and the environment are one process, trees are our lungs, rivers and waters and oceans are our circulation, the earth recycles as our physical body, and the atmosphere is our breath. Let us show in action that we know we are one ecosystem. Let us not let the Earth become uninhabitable.
Many of us, overwhelmed by bad news on the ecological front for more than a decade, may almost by default find ourselves going down the road that allows shutting down and tuning out, passively letting bad go to worse. But let’s change now to a way that leads to personal fulfillment and empowerment. Let’s go down the road of action, following the invigorating, energizing, call to action that this current catastrophe has inspired.
Most of us have a little of both scenarios going on in ourselves. It is easy to be overwhelmed by the grief and complexity. This is why I invite you to continue to contribute to Collective Creativity, our LinkedIn group, to work together to create more proactive solutions and innovations to prevent problems like the Gulf from happening again.
The following eight steps are things that we can all do to become involved, compiled from feedback from my questions posted here at Collective Creativity on LinkedIn. Please continue your valuable contributions to this conversation and add your own!
1. Give direct financial aid through reliable agencies such as the United Way.
2. Support organizations such as Ocean Conservation Society, The Nature Conservancy, and others that are engaged in healing our ecosystem. Follow their recommendations for ways to help.
3. Volunteer and help organizations recruit others for habitat restoration activities and more. For example, gather hair from salons, groomers, llamas, sheep fleece farmers, feather donors, and others, for making oil-soaking boom via mattersoftrust.org.
4. Engage in global conversation and harness collective creativity with social networks such as our Collective Creativity group at LinkedIn.
5. Make conscious choices that are “green.” For example, go through your cleaning supplies and stop using anything that has a Signal Word label with anything stronger than “Caution.”
6. Support investments in technologies that are looking at sustainably and reversal of global warming such as Fuelcor Global
7. Educate yourself on very successful approaches to restoring the ecosystem such as of Allan Savory, who is the winner of 2010 Buckminster Fuller Challenge
8. Support spiritual education that teaches people, especially the youth, the relationship between all life. Much of all that has happened to damage the world is a result of a dualistic approach in science where we created a distinction between biological organisms and the environment.
A new global movement of planetary healing needs both a short-term approach addressing the urgent need to act swiftly, but at the same time, a long term approach with action steps people can take in their everyday life. Healing this planet will be empowering for all of us. Planetary wellness needs to become a global movement, yet it begins with you and me, and the time to act is now.

What other critical steps would you recommend? And how can we grow the magnitude of this discussion on LinkedIn and elsewhere?

We each need to do our own part & the amazing thing is that even though the system is broken & things are out of balance, the steps that each of us take will make a difference. It is only through the personal actions of every person on the planet that the Earth can begin to heal. The bold actions of leadership can push the agenda (we sorely need that) but it is through our individual actions that major changes become a way of life.
We’ve borrowed to often from the future & put off for much to long our way of consuming more then we can possibly ever use.
Each of us has the power to make a difference & even small steps towards a greener planet will have a ripple effect throughout the world.
Find a way to help today & educate yourself in recycling, reusing & eating more natural, unprocessed foods.
I’ll help each of you anyway I can.
Hugs,
Bill

Americans are so good at ‘just throw money at it’. What about getting them to stop spilling oil?
Why aren’t the massive collective meditating on a suitable answer for that?
We have started projects with youth & women in leadership we host live online dialogues via our new media platform on all social networks.
Anything we can do please let us know.
much love

If you take the example of nature itself then there is only one real solution:
work on the land with your bare hands. Nature is capable of providing everything in a natural way.
We had several ideas in the sixties already (communes, self sustaining groups etc.)
We create our world alright but we think we can do that without nature.
It is not possible
And discover how every little creature in nature keeps the whole of it in balance.
Then you might discover that your own body is working in the same way. Improve the world start with yourself, still is the best way to find out about the whole universe
Beautiful solution presented by Paul Stamets who has demonstrated that oyster mushrooms eat and completely detoxify oil. He suggests straw mats with oyster mushrooms as opposed to hair mats because the latter sink whereas oyster mushrooms use it for food. See his video on U-tube
I commit to playing my part consciously.

Now is the time to retore Sacred HEMP which has been a gift from our Earth for millenia. It can replace the needs for petroleum in plastics, machines, food, clothes, paint, etc. It is renewable, cleans soils, and has been demonized for too long. It is not its psychoactive cousin cannabis, but is truly a solution to our addiction to petroleum. Please Read about its gifts. mahalo, j.
The Gulf tragedy is yet another call to Oneness,to the joy of action together,to the truth of the power to choose another way to be with all life. We have within us the strongest power imaginable-that of the human and global heart to effect real change from our own living rooms.Financial contribution, hands on assistance and re-estabishing the inherent dignity of the wildlife, ocean creatures and humans involved are sacred actions…and shifting the planetary stresswaves to heartwaves of coherence sitting in our homes every moment carries a power that changes every way we will collectively face these challenges now and in the future. There is no separation to be found in the Universe…let us tap into that knowingness and live out this crisis and our lives from here.Shifting to our hearts, radiating a healing wave from our bodies to the Gulf to all as one family…we will change the course of history by this one action of compassion.
this is a mirror of the mess in our souls – look into EFT (emotional freedom technique) (emofree.com), hooponopono, and The Healing Codes (Alex loyd)
You cant change the outside as easily as the inside. The inside isnt easy to heal, so try and get professional help (for the above methods),
pray to your spirit guides before bed for help – they may give it to you as dreams – so have pen and paper ready . THIS WORKS
I wanted to point out that The Nature Conservancy was in partnership with BP, and that BP relied on the alliance to portray itself as a green company. Nature Conservancy Works for corporations, and the “conservation” that is being done is largely in favor of corporate access to valuable resources. I worked for BP in 2001, and its relationship with NC seemed suspect back then.
A channelled message I received some time ago was to the effect that the reason Atlantis fell was because scientists were not working in tune with the laws of nature – it seems we have to check this out before we go drilling deep into the Earth Mothers body doing harm to her, and ourselves at the same time. We are receiving a warning here and must pay attention.
Let’s continue networking, brainstorming, learning, and working together. Remain open minded and always send love….
We have yet to remember that we can do harm if not working within the Earth’s spiritual laws of nature – drilling through the Earth’s crust damages her and must stop.
I would like to see a list compiled of all the things we use every day that are made from petroleum; the stuff we never think about at all. I would like to become aware of all the petroleum-based things that should be phased OUT of every day life.
We must remember that God has given us this planet to sustain us, not to violate it, we have been entrusted with her caring. Let’s learn how to live in harmony with her. It is time. And, yes, we must start watching how we live. Each one of us can make a difference. Be frugal, use less petroleum products, recycle, grow your own produce if possible or help start an organic community garden. Let’s give each other a hand. We are one with Pachamama.
I did some research and found that we are all horrifyingly dependent on oil products. It takes one 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline. But petroleum is not just used for fuel. It is used in almost everything we use that we would never think of as petroleum. One study showed that Americans consume petroleum products at a rate of three-and-a-half gallons of oil and more than 250 cubic feet of natural gas per day each in common products. Just Google “petroleum based products” yourself and see. “Going Green” just got a lot more complicated than using cloth shopping bags.
Stemming the Leak
Calling on all our brilliant Engineers who can create wonderful and useful things…
Can we lift an empty oil tanker, cut the appropriate shape in the bottom of the hull, attach an oil and water separator to the deck and lower it over the Leak (understatement) ? Let start to fill. Open the separator valve/valves and collect the oil until we come up with a final solution. The tanker can the be left there to create a beautiful coral reef for our children to enjoy!
buy only what you need, from local sources, curtail trips, recycle, give in your community, go solar
moderation in all things
Adopting a Plant Based Diet saves animals, resources, the environment, and your health. Billions of animals are killed each year by corporate fishing, factory farming, and predator control (mountain lions, prairie dogs, coyotes, fox, etc are killed to protect livestock)..so a piece of meat on the plate not only sacrificed a farm animal..it also sacrificed several wild animals to get there not to mention the amount of resources and energy it takes to produce animal flesh for human consumption. Plant Based eating is peaceful and healthy especially if you can lean towards fruits, nuts, and seeds that are freely offered by the plants. Delicious vegan and raw food recipes are abundant on the internet for you to try.
if we consider that we are human beings and not ‘doings’ we shall realize that our deeds here on this planet are created solely by our and collective intention and manifestation process. alignment with the universal forces empower us to be ourselves balanced and in harmony ie. the planet. i b
just release my comment back into the universal field, just because someone who feels thwarted and is afraid of this world can choose my comment to be published or not, i would like to say, wrong time wrong place, be well. i b
What i heard from the guided meditation at the “Gulf call to sacred action” seemed to say: Let’s first stop the leak, then let’s look at the underlying issues and see whether we can also change the addiction to the carbon based economy. -
I have a sense this approach is not in harmony with the best possible development of the situation.
If I imagine, the clever engineers, BP or others, would be able to pull off an ingenious technological miracle and stop the leak quickly, then clean up the mess with all means available etc. , a huge sigh of relief would go through humanity, together with pride in the ingenuity and the confidence of being able to handle pretty much every disaster, feeling confirmed in the dare-devil approach of “act now, think later”, – “make the money now, deal with arising problems only if the arise”, – “cross the bridge, when you come to it…”.
If I imagine thinking on Mother Earth’s behalf, I would not feel as if my needs were well taken care of by this approach. To the contrary. I would feel my sacrifice is in the process of being wasted. – I would feel this even on behalf of the pelicans and the dolphins, the fish, shellfish, plankton and all other sea life.
I feel really strongly, that the top priority here has to be a thorough shaking of conscience. Not in a blaming, finger-pointing superficial scape-goat-finding sort of way, but in a deep movement of consciousness.
I imagine the life-force of all the creatures that lost their lives, including the 11 people, rising like a torrent, guided and supported by our own conscious movement directing itself towards those many key players in politics, economy, administration, religion, military – in all sectors of society.
I imagine meeting them in their dreams, questioning their conscience, piercing the fog of legal and illegal drugs, bypass the elaborate diversions and bring them to account, visualise them aware of their own personal responsibility. Aware and fully conscious of a possible future, devastated planet, when the oceans collapse, the oxygen production drops, the food production is disrupted, the temperature runs away. I see them in my inner eye, hear their rasping breath, sense their quaking, when they feel the karmic weight of the suffering, the many deaths and the impossible lives. Not as a blame or a guilt, but as a very real option, something they will carry on their karmic port-folio, very matter-of-fact.
The beauty of this moment in history is, that it is not yet too late. – I imagine those key players, this certain percentage of the population, from the very rich and powerful to the ordinary opportunists, who have so far resisted awareness, to be waking, haunted, night after night, and day after day, sweating, struggling, trembling until they finally behold the wonderful idea of letting go of their self interest, for once do the right thing.
I imagine, how they draw a deep and relieved breath, the first pure and easy breath for a long time, perhaps ever since they can remember, now, after having made their wonderful choice…and emerge cleansed, strengthened, determined and clear. – Happy, in a very new kind of way, exhilarated and instantly rewarded by a wave bliss, their right choice giving them already a small taste of the sweet future they from now on will co-create.
Mother herself is giving us the clue. It’s not about the body, she is willing to sacrifice physical life to shake us up. Let’s honor her and help her with the shaking. And we are not making anything up, here, we are just making things clear.
If I were an unaware stock-market dealer, I would prefer to be woken up like this rather than “spared” and then later landed with the same situation but at a time when it is too late. – And after all, Jesus did the same thing. -
I am sure, once a critical amount of people have raised their consciousness, the oil disaster will have fulfilled it’s purpose and will then be taken care of. -
much love……….
Focus a little less on money (even this page mention the need for raising money!) and a little more on Earth AT HAND. By that I mean, no littering, no spilling out chemicals like paint, detergents, medicine, hygiene products etc that are not completely biologically produced. Do not be fooled by the label “natural”. It only describes that a drip of an essential oil or the like has been added inside the rest of the chemical stuff in the bottles.
Go to the area, you who live there. Gather in groups and clean it up. Contact fisherman, boaters, congress men, coastguard etc and put personal pressure on them.
Take care of the animals that already exist near you. Don’t scare them for fun by encouraging your kids to. Educate yourselves. Appreciate the beauty that is.
Blessings,
/Alexandra

Please learn about the Transition Town Initiatives which are now spreading around the world in response to Peak Oil, climate change and economic volatility. Their mission is to move from oil dependence to local resilience. Learn about it and join (or form!) a Transition Town in you area. This is a hands-on movement which is relocalizing communities and building connections which will sustain us as we move into a rapid energy descent. We are powering down to a new way of life and everyone should know about Transition Towns. Go to transitionus.org if you are in the USA, or go to Transition Culture, or Transition Network for more info. It’s a very practical approach to constructing a new paradigm.
How come you have not accepted my comment or do you only accept comments from people that hold you as their superior guru and not as an equal?

I am writing on behalf of the beautiful little county of Monroe, WV., which is nestled in the the heart of Appalachia and it’s ancient mountains. Unfortunately this county also encompasses a portion of the Marcellus Shale from which oil companies hope to extract natural gas, by a process know as “fracking”, which will decimate our water, our roads and all infrastructure, not to mention air and noise pollution. Another complicating factor is the fact that Monroe County, WV’s topography is karst topography, comprised of many limestone caves and sinkholes. It is not well understood in general, and certainly not understood by those who seek to exploit our resources by raping our planet.
New York has managed to put a moratorium on this type of drilling, but Monroe County is small, with little revenus to mount the type of campaign needed to fight the oil companies, so I implore anyone out there who might be able to help us in any way to stop another assault on our beloved and endangered planet.
Over the years, the citizens of Monroe County have fought, and won, many battles to protect and preserve it’s natural resources, beauty and way of life, but this is our most challenging one yet, one that we cannot win alone, as the cost to fight the wealthiest and most powerful companies in the world is out of our reach.
Therefore, I am making this appeal to anyone out there who may have the expertise, financial resources, and concern for our Mother Earth, to please come to our aid and help us stop another assault on our precious water, land and air. To find out more about our plight and natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale visit: http://www.saveourwatertable.org
Remember, what happens here affects us all.
