Looking for simplicity

I am just over 90 days clean and sober. The few books I have read by you have been a great help. I am very grateful.

I would like to keep my spiritual life simple. The books I have been reading I certainly understand intellectually and they sing to my heart. I truly love this new found spiritual thirst.

However, I need to keep my feet on the ground. I have not been much of a “normal citizen” and working and living in this world is a far cry different matter than living the life of a yogi which frankly seems quite appealing.

First of all congratulations on your ninety days of sobriety. It makes sense that you would like to keep your feet on the ground and things in your life simple so that you can maintain a greater sense of awareness about your decisions moving forward. The appeal of a yogi’s life that is removed from the world with its associations and temptations may seem to be an attractive solution. But such a decision has to be more about your following your inner nature rather than looking to it to solve a problem. What you can do is strive to live the life of a yogi in the world. It’s called Karma Yoga, where you make your daily activity be the means of stabilizing the silence of your Being that you culture in meditation. This way your work keeps your feet on the ground and your single-minded focus on action as a service keeps your life simple.

yes, live in the market place let not the market enter you.You don’t have to do any thing extra ordinary.Yogi’s life is all inside.That’s what deepak means.Congrats to you.
