Question:
My question has to do with getting out of an emotional rut. I’ve made some big changes in my life in this past year: I got out of a 5 year relationship that wasn’t working, left a high-pressure job that was sucking all the energy out of me, let go of a wonderful, but very expensive (and hence high-stress) apartment and finally put all my things in storage in order to travel for about 2 months to clear my mind and spend time with my family. This was all part of an effort to de-stress and stabilize my life. However, in amongst all this, I also got involved in another (short term) relationship which also ended rather abruptly, causing some pain. Now, I feel that I’ve come back to a relatively normal but different life: I have a job in the same organization (though different department), a more affordable apartment and I am single for the first time in five or six years. However, I also feel oddly uninspired, bored, lethargic and yes, a bit sad. I think I’ve done a lot to get out of an unstable situation and into one that is more stable. Yet, I still feel my heart is empty and much of what I do is mechanical. What is the process by which one opens up again and feels joy? What else can I do to change my outlook and circumstances? Thank you.
Answer:
I agree you have made a lot of changes to simplify your life, but I can’t tell that you have made an effort to deepen your experience of your inner self. Your joy, enthusiasm and creativity lies in the silence of your core Being and you can reach that just by downsizing the complexity of your life.
A daily meditation plan along with yoga asanas and frequent immersions into Nature will go a long way toward connecting you to your passion and purpose.

Thanks Deepak, for all of your wisdom. Another idea might be to look at a few of the changes that you’ve made. For instance, it seems natural to feel sad about such long term relationship even if it wasn’t working. This takes time to heal, especially if you were seeing someone else in between and never really felt the loss. Secondly, you stated that you made changes to de-stress, but I didn’t hear that these changes necessarily reflected your true passions. While it’s important to de-stress, we need to move toward changes that reflect our authentic selves and true joys. The law of pure potentiality not only relates to consciousness in it’s pure form within, but also as it’s manifested in the outside world as well. While doing those meditations and nature walks, think about what you truly want your life to look like in all areas, and allow yourself to heal from the loss of your relationship as well.
I don’t know what to do or why I am feeling as I do. I cannot stop crying over the death of Michael Jackson. I find I am constantly defending him and when I see people like Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who claimed to be his friend, write a book that is judgemental or Uri Geller using Michael to make a buck, to name two, I go crazy. I am 64 years old and this ache in my heart will not go away. I cannot explain it. I never knew Michael personally but felt I knew him more on a spiritual level, if you know what I mean. You were the only one to write something positive about this anguished man. I am afraid if I stop thinking about Michael that other’s will as well and he needs to be remembered for the loving humanitarian he was. This is my emotional rut…..
I know what you mean i feel the same still grieving for Michael. I will never forget him, but i do know as time past our
grief will subside. Hold on and know he is alright.
The lack of compassion that still appears in this world is most devastating to say the least. This lack of genuine compassion comes from the people who still sleep in ignorance of their true nature in God. “Forgive them they know not what they do”..And remember God’s eternal law of adjustment is forever functioning through consequences, and each man has to answer to himself. It is only when man wakes up to his true nature in Soul, That he innately expresses in thought, speech and action, The “Real man” who lives and moves and has his being in God….
I was thinking that you can begin to heal through this, by an in depth exploration into the true innate nature of man, and write about all the tangible inherent qualities of man’s soul that can be naturally expressed in this world, through compassion, love, understanding, forgiveness, humility,to name a few. Human nature is not the real nature of man. it not the original nature in which God’s Consciousness made you. Human nature can be very cruel. What is imperative here is that you bring out the spiritual nature of man’s true existence, by, meditation or silent prayer, scriptural study, writing perhaps, as Deepak does, or in some other unique way. Divine Mind will lead you, and give you what you need to heal through this…Turn to that One Mind that lives within your consciousness,That Divine all knowing Mind that right now keeps your heart beating, That Mind will give you the strength and creativity you need to heal yourself and also to help heal other individuals as well…I don’t know if you meditate or practice silent prayer, but this daily devoted practice will put you in direct touch with your Creator, God….And will heal all wounds….

Hi Friend, I like that better then Hackman….
“Not any work of our own” This is true, Only God IS…God is All in all.
As Jesus said, I in and of myself am nothing….It’s the Father in me that doeth the Work. How would you personally help someone understand the “Father” who does not understand that concept from the Scriptural text? What does Jesus mean by the Father in Me? And what does Jesus mean when he states without the Father I am nothing? What does he mean by nothing?
The mind set of over 2000 years ago could not understand the unseen Principle of a loving, all Good infinite Creative Consciousness within us, In order for people of that day to understand The Christ Mind(Divine Consciousness), Jesus had to use language through symbols, parables and analogies. We have to perceive intuitively His Spiritual Christ message. He said for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see. He wasn’t speaking of physical eyes and ears. He also said if your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light, meaning. The single eye represents a mind imbued only with The Christ. To be full of light means to have complete understanding of the The Christ Mind that is within us….And to have the Christ Mind within us acknowledged is the quickening that transforms us and lead us to the Father’s house. The Father’s house is, Pure Infinite creative Consciousness.
You can not see Love itself, but you can see love expressed. For instance when a Father loves a son and protects his family, there in you have the Infinite Love of God being made manifest. Of course there are many ways in which God’s expression of love is seen in this world. Mother and daughter love, friendship, and so forth….Now, if one does not keep in His Mind and thoughts the love of Christ and express that in this world, then that one, is not of the Father…Remember Christ even said, even your thoughts are seen by the Father….
As far as the webmaster, he may have been honestly doing what he thought was right, just as you feel that what your doing is right. So let us continue to love, and move forward to even Greater love….God is Love, and Love is infinite….
Peace
Gyanama
Your running too hard. But from what? You thought it was stress. In reality it is shallow expectations and materialistic views. Leave this treadmill of thought. It’s easy. Just step off.
