To be authentic, you have to be everything that you are, omitting nothing. Within everyone there is light/shadow, good/evil, love/hate. – Deepak Chopra

That is the most absolute, true statement I have always believed in as a child, and adult. But, one that can be difficult to try and explain to others if they don’t understand the nature of how everything “works”. There must be opposites to support our realities as we know them at this time and in this dimension. Authenticity is that knowingness and acceptance that even if we don’t understand the why, it is still OK, and we will do better to smile and let that understanding come to pass in its own time.

  • H@ckm@n says:

Whoooa, that is profound Baghwan Deepak…. Golly, you just gave me something
to meditate on for weeks….. Clown!

  • Tom says:

This is an idea that I was introduced to by you almost a year ago. Since taking it on board, I find that my actions often surprise(and sometimes embarrass) me, but also that I feel more comfortable in myself at the same time. It is a rewarding and insightful journey; getting to know and accept ones true self.

  • H@ckm@n says:

Tom, you’ll also notice that you will stop getting invited to parties. People for
some reason just don’t feel comfortable around freak shows….. Go figure.

  • Things that make you go hmmmm says:

H@ckm@n do you just like to make people see your imagined superiority or are you being intentionally disruptive

  • H@ckm@n says:

Hmm, neither of those…. I find the worldview that Deepak and others here
ascribe to is threat to freedom and life itself….. I know you won’t understand,
because a part of your belief system is to not thing too deeply about anything..
It’s all about what makes you feel warm and fuzzy at the moment….

If you listen, Deepak clearly is openly antagonistic to the Christian world view,
He throws bombs at us and yet will not defend his arguments, most likely
because he knows it is a losing proposition as the Christian will most often
use God given reason and logic to arrive at conclusions about what is true
and what is hokum…. Reason and logic are not methods Deepak applies to
his thought process…. His is a dreamer.

  • Lu says:

H@ckm@n I never understand those who continue to read blogs about belief systems they do not like and then sit around criticizing others in the blog. That’s fine If you do not agree with Deepak’s methods but why do you come to this website? Just stop reading the blog its as simple as that, we do not need negative people around.

Oh and if you understood Deepak’s teachings more clearly you would realize that they do not threaten freedom or life but rather enhance both. To help people realize that they have the control and freedom to decide how they want to live their life. To live life in a state of happiness and have the knowledge that one can achieve whatever he/she likes does not make one a “dreamer” on the contrary I believe it takes great amounts of logic to come to such a realization.

  • H@ckm@n says:

Lu, you don’t listen well do you……
Deepak’s belief system is evil and is not new…. It has a pleasant looking
exterior but underneath there is evil intent….. It promotes a system that will not
define right and wrong. If you read Deepak’s blogs you will see that he
determines what is good and bad. The honest thinker will acknowledge
that if he is right, you have no way to say that the Holocaust, killing fields,
abortion, etc is wrong…. If I believe this should I just sit back and say nothing?
    Not gonna!

I have no doubt that you will not make the connection… I know this because
anyone who thinks Deepak is onto something has quit using reason and
logic to make judgments on what is sound thinking or not….. Try thinking
deeply for a moment…. If their is no objective standard of right and wrong,
who’s shall we accept? It’s a recipe for tyranny Lu.
    Think!

H@ckm@n is a dedicated bible thumper and too weak in his, her, it’s own sense of self and their reality to be able to proceed thru life without a crutch of some kind. They ascribe to the narrow belief that all truth etc. comes from the Bible and don’t understand that the Bible comes from folk tales and myths and has been changed much through many translations. The entire world is supposed to believe in the Bible and what is written there. I prefer to question and think for myself.

    Dottie,
As an FYI, I am actually quite successful. I am a senior exec at a large
commercial construction company, have four lovely (Christian) daughters
and a wife of 30 years that I don’t deserve. I was very successful athlete in
school…. I say this without an ounce of pride as without God I would be
nothing…. If that is a crutch to you then I most definitely am grateful
    for having it.
Thank you Lord for blessing me so richly!

Referring to your previous 4:10pm post, it would be nice if you would quit making generalizations about the topics you talk about, for two reasons, #1 its making you look extremely ignorant and #2 you believe that no one is thinking when they read Deepak’s work? I can not speak for anyone else but myself when i say that I do ponder upon the concepts Deepak presents me with.. sometimes days or regarding the topic about right and wrong, i have been thinking and processing that idea for years. Ever since i was presented with the concept of there not being a “right or wrong” I have struggled with believing it and have questioned it to this day. I still do not have a clear stance on how i feel about it and i do not even know if i’ll be able to except that idea in this life time. So as of now I do not believe the concept of there being no “right or wrong” because I can not understand yet how that could be. Now if thats not thinking and consideration H@ckm@n, I dont know what is!

In conclusion my point is that(although you could be thinking so) not everyone reads Deepak’s works and then automatically believes every ounce of what he says. I am a perfect example, for I read what he says and then take as much time as i need to absorb and reflect on the information. And for the concepts i have trouble believing, I do not discard them as rubbish but rather keep them in the back of my mind so I can further mull them over.
I know we will never see eye to eye on the topics discussed here because we clearly have different ideas, beliefs etc. That is fine with me and it is all part of life, but do not ever make the statement that people reading Deepak’s work are not thinking . It is such an inaccurate generalization its disgusting.

  • Things that make you go hmmm says:

    H@ckm@n,

In all honesty and with respect, I must say that I would be more open to listening to your viewpoint if you could stop making broad generalizations about people and hurling insults because you don’t agree with those who are looking for answers to their own existence. If you were truly interested in sharing information, you wouldn’t strive so hard and waste so much energy to make yourself look like a bully. Nothing you’ve written to date has made me want to consider that you could possibly have a valid point because of your anger and apparent hatred of that which is different from you.

Case in point, you stated in response to my posting “I know you won’t understand, because a part of your belief system is to not think too deeply about anything..It’s all about what makes you feel warm and fuzzy at the moment…. “. As an FYI for you, I actually think quite deeply, having an AAS in Accounting, a BA in Psychology and Theology, an MS in Financial Management and a PhD currently in progress.

Can you overcome your anger and try to just explain your feelings about the issue? I would love to engage in respectful discourse with you in order to better understand the issue which is–within everyone there is light and shadow, good and evil, love and hate. All you’ve shown us so far is hate. Can you show us the Christian love that must also be within?

  • H@ckm@n says:

I guess it’s only okay for Deepak to throw bombs?

How many times has he derided the Christian or conservative viewpoint?
There is no right and wrong unless he’s talking about Christians…
None of you will lift a finger to chastise him… Sorry, he has drawn his line in
the sand. If you think that’s cool stuff than you’re fair game.

  • Rhonda says:

    H@ckm@n Says:

“Reason and logic are not methods Deepak applies to
    his thought process”.

Dear Sir, with all due respect reason and logic are not a foundation of the Christian dogma! Faith and Grace ARE!? What are you so afraid of? Why do you continuously attack Mr. Chopra? I am a Christian and I find your behavior on this blog offensive. A true Christ centered worldview does not permit this type of behavior. Get that log out of your own eye first, Mister.

  • Rae says:

We waste our energy trying to reason with someone whose point of view is so narrow it cannot see, hear or feel another viewpoint. He follows a centruies-old Christian tradition of “my God is the only God and everyone must bow to him or be destroyed.” Unfortunately for everyone, he will only find enlightenment when he passes from this physical state. He wears blinders comprised of a narrow interpretation of Christianity that will not allow him to contemplate any other beliefs. He will never respect the right of every individual to follow his/her own heart and mind. It makes me grateful for the constituional protection of our rights to freedom of religion, including non-traditional religoin, and freedom of speech that we enjoy in America. Though, sadly, most individuals take no responsibility for the impact of what they speak. Hackman’s reaslity is that he will not listen to anyone but himself.

As to the inspiration of the day; I agree and believe that each of us possess all of these qualities. I wonder at the scope of traits of the spirit. It is difficult, if not impossible to be altruistic to all of these qualities in modern society and expect to succeed or survive, inasmuch as some qualities are admired and others despised, but the experience of these qualities and coming to understand them is the motivation for the journey each of us has embarked on.

  • Tamar says:

H@ckm@n is living this inspiration. Being the “light/shadow, good/evil, love/hate”

    -Peace

  • H@ckm@n says:

    Rhonda,
Sorry but I disagree. God has given reason and logic as a tool for us
to determine what is and what isn’t…. But first he has given us an
objective standard of morality for which to use sound reasoning and
logic to put ideas to the test… Without it we are left to decide for ourselves,
right? (that is reason at work, by the way).

You hold to a Christian worldview, do you? And then like Deepak you can
justify abortion, sexual perversion (homosexuality) and such? Good reason
says that you cannot believe two opposing viewpoints, right?
I do realize that their are those who call themselves Christians today who
bend God’s Word to not be so rigid and difficult…. I do not share your
version of Christianity… I would have to sacrifice my intellect to do so.

Because he LOVES the world, because in His Father’s House there is Place for the Many.

  • H@ckm@n says:

Mieke, Deepak has you fooled… All you have to do is read his post on
the Sotomayor confirmation hearings to realize he is purely a political
talking head… So completely controlled by his left wing political leanings
and his hatred for anything Christian. He is willing to ignore the
Constitutional role of the Supreme Court to see his agenda realized…
This man is evil, and for someone of your life experience you should
    be able to see it.
