Question:
I have studied numerous spirituality and all sorts of self help across the board. My number one thing I still struggle with is insecurity and confidence. On a spiritual standpoint; I believe confidence comes from believing in yourself- knowing, that your capable of doing things..but in order to believe in oneself you need experience to have the belief???? I get torn because I take chances, step out of my comfort zone and do things to push myself; but then become reliant on those “things” for my confidence that isn’t right is it? My question is based on your teachings and on a spirituality level how do I find true confidence in myself without relying on “external events” to drive my confidence? I know how I think about myself is only a thought and isn’t real; is there something I can do besides meditation, journaling, affirmations, that I do on a regular basis? I’m not going to give up, and I know that’s a huge part of it!
Answer:
The most important factor in genuine or spiritual self-confidence is the Self. If self-confidence is only based on changing circumstances and abilities that led to accomplishments, then when those things change, as they inevitably will, so will your sense of self-confidence. That is the problem, which you noted above, when you become reliant on those external events for your confidence.
The true foundation of self-confidence comes through knowledge and experience of your true Self through meditation. From there, adding affirmations, journaling and stretching beyond your comfort zone are all useful adjuncts. So I don’t think you need to add anything new to your list, but give your top priority to meditation and then be patient and persistent in your progress toward self-confidence.

Dear Energy:
I would like to comment on “self confidence”. Self confidence is viewed on 3 levels. There is self confidence through a conscious approach and self confidence in the sub conscious approach and self confidence in the universal approach. On the conscious level, it is dependent on the results of action. The world has a approval component to this. On the sunconscious level, this energy is in thought form. In the deep universal level, deep inside the mind, it is connected to passion. Too often, we base self confidence on the approval of others. This is the point of shattering. Too often, we apply action without a sunconcious preparation. In other words, we act without aligned thought.
Self confidence is nurtured from the inside out, first meditate to discover talent; I believe we all have it. Then aligned inner thought with emotion prepares the right action. Once feeling planned, your self confidence to act is strong. Once this energy is focused unstoppable, the worlds’ response is totally positive. Never allow the world to decide your confidence. Making mistakes is a personal self esteem issue. What is considered a mistake to one is not to another. Since we live in a universe of love, belief and illusion, I can tell you that you need no ones’ approval but your own gift of manipulated energy into your definition of happiness.

I believe we are all born with confidence intact, and that it is life which chips away at it.
Nature equips us with self love and it is up to us to get it back.
If we have any negative beliefs about our selves, we need to know that they are erroneous.
We can tell they are erroneous, because of the negative feeling.
I believe that these steps, are those we pass through to return to natures intent.
Identify the wrong belief, by its negative smell
Trace when the belief was accuired, and why. For instance, it might be an event, which made
an impression on our perception. Maybe a teacher called us a derrogatory name, etc etc
Realise it is wrong, how it is wrong, and why it is wrong.
Once we fully feel the erroneousness of our belief, it dissolves and in its place is the real truth.
A bit like the analogy, you cannot have ice where there is heat.
